Fashioned for Transition

You are waking to the day after Christmas.

Everyone opened their presents; hopefully, you do not have too many “returns.”  You ate too many cookies and may feel exhausted from all the sugar and festivities. Breathe.

We race to December 25, filling every moment with baking, cooking, shopping, family, and friends. It’s all good, but you may experience a slight letdown when it’s over. I have!

That day after Christmas, until January 1, is the “in-between week” as we savor what’s left of 2023 and prepare to jumpstart 2024. Kids are off school; your house might be loud and messy. Enjoy it! It doesn’t last forever, but the memories will.
A transition is coming.

For me, January 1, 2024, signals that my life will experience a transition. Our new PennDel Women’s Director, Charisse Jenkins, will assume the driver’s seat, and I will do everything I can to assist her during January and February. Then, on March 1, Charisse will officially begin leading PennDel Women!

Thank you for the privilege of serving you for the past five years. I will always be grateful to the leadership of the PennDel Ministry Network for entrusting me with this assignment. When I said YES in August of 2018, I felt the Lord speak to me, telling me that this would be a five-year assignment and I would be a great transition to the next generation.

Officially, on March 1, 2019, I became an employee of the PennDel Ministry Network, so finishing on February 28, 2024, is five years. That went fast!

Transitioning well is vital to me! I imagine Charisse and I are running a relay race, together side by side, getting ready for the handoff. I am excited to see her soar as she takes the lead. God has called her, and she is gifted to lead PennDel Women forward.

Our verse for 2023 has been, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

Leading PennDel Women is a part of the good things God planned for me. I know there’s more, and Jesus has my YES for the next assignment.

I encourage you to place your life in His hands and say, “Jesus, I’m your girl, use me!”

He will, I promise.

I have loved serving you as the PennDel Women Director! Happy New Year! Liz

Liz DeFrain

Liz DeFrain is an ordained minister, conference and retreat speaker, and serves as the Women’s Director for the PennDel Network of the Assemblies of God. As a first generation Christian, she appreciates the gift of salvation and wants everyone to experience an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. For the past twenty-five years she has served in ministry alongside her husband, Steve, and understands the dynamics of ministry life. She loves people, excellence, and seeing the next generation of women embrace everything that God desires for them. Fun Fact: Liz is an identical twin, and many times her sister, Theresa, is mistaken for her. Theresa serves on the Women of Purpose team and loves people too, so it’s all good!
