A Purse Filled With Purpose

Have you ever thought…

Why do I have that in my purse?

I can’t find anything in my purse!

YES, I do have that in my purse!” for the person needing a band-aid or a random paper clip.

Or “It’s definitely time to clean out or switch out my purse.”

We have purses to match everything and anything – countless choices of color and style. Options of convenience, practicality, or fashion statements like, “I don’t care what fits in it… it’s CUTE!”

Purses have a way of accenting or pulling together an outfit, and having what we need when we need it.

Sometimes we compare purses. “Oh, that purse she has is adorable. I wish I had that purse.” Or we start a conversation by “I love your purse where did you find that?”

As I started to think about purses and how each purse is uniquely chosen, gifted, and selected, it made me think of how each one of God’s daughters is gifted, filled, and created as His masterpiece. We are like our purses, but the question to ask is, what are we filled with?

We carry the calling of being like Jesus and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

We are designed and created by God to bring Him glory.

Like our purses, we carry a calling and have a purpose that God has given and designed.

We read in Ephesians 2:10 how God created and planned each one of our lives with a calling and purpose.

“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”

We can know our purpose and carry our calling, however if we do not clean out our purses often or assess what has gotten into them, we can easily allow old mindsets, habits, and the clutter to distract or prevent us from continuing on that path God has prepared for us to walk.

If you are like me, I have receipts, to do lists, reminders, and notes in my purse. This often hinders me from finding what I am looking for and makes it very difficult to see. It’s preventing me from my mission to find my keys!

It’s when life slows down, that moment when I am waiting for something or someone, or I’m in traffic, the thought seems to trigger, “I should clean out my purse!” How often do our fast-pace lives allow our to-do lists to pile up in our purses, and the very things we put in our purses to help us remember the “important things” we so often forget to ‘de-clutter’. Therefore, not regularly assessing or evaluating what we are being filled with and/or what from the past needs to be cleaned out can be the very thing that hinders our vision and distracts us from our calling.

Satan wants us to be held down by the clutter, and or distractions of this world to keep us from operating in the power and authority God has for us. Satan knows that what YOU carry is valuable to God’s Kingdom! The enemy knows that when God’s daughters carry their calling, and know their purpose and identity in the Father that they then become DANGEROUS and THREATEN the very plan Satan has against God’s Kingdom.

What YOU carry is for YOU to carry and no one else. Comparison is a thief. How often do we compare our callings or our purpose with someone else’s? Your purpose and calling is unique and God’s desire for you is to be filled with His presence and walk in the calling that He planned for only YOU.

Remember that you are created by God to be filled by Him and to operate in His authority.

You are filled to give.

You are filled to point others to Jesus.

You are filled to bring Heaven to Earth.

You are filled to carry out your purpose.

We are filled by God’s presence when we dispose of the things that distract, clutter, and get in the way of spending time with Jesus.

There is nothing that we need that God has not already planned provision. There is no desire that goes unnoticed by God. Our Father knows our needs and has prepared in advance for it to be provided.  Our Father is faithful, and because of that, we can rest in knowing all of our days are prepared.

Do we know what we carry? Do we know and believe we are valuable and priceless to God’s Kingdom? You are NOT to young and you are NOT too old to carry out the calling and purpose God has for you.

“In Him also we have [d]received an inheritance [a destiny—we were claimed by God as His own], having been predestined (chosen, appointed beforehand) according to the purpose of Him who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him as our Lord and Savior] would exist to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God]. 14 The Spirit is the [e]guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:11-14 (AMP)

Our purses we carry with us can be a great reminder of how our lives have a purpose and what we carry is valuable to God’s Kingdom.

Just how our purses get cluttered and filled with ‘stuff’ making it a challenge to find what we need in that moment in time, this is when we can remember how our own lives can become that way. The Lord reminds us in His Word to examine our own lives, not because He does not already know, but so we are aware and allow Him to purify and remove what hinders us from walking in the fullness He has.

Proverbs 27:19 says,  “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”

Our lives are transparent to God, He sees everything, He knows everything.

Do you know what YOU carry is valuable? Do you believe YOUR valuable to God’s Kingdom? God has a plan and a purpose for YOU, He created YOU to CARRY the calling He predestined for YOU. It’s time to clean out distractions and clutter! As God’s daughters we can walk in purity, power, and purpose when we know and believe what we carry is VALUABLE to God’s KINGDOM.

You are a PERSON filled with PURPOSE!
